The nurses and providers of TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center were recognized by hospital leaders in February for their commitment to preventing harm. In 2019 and 2020, TriStar Hendersonville nursing units reported ZERO CLABSIs.

A CLABSI is a Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infection, a serious infection that occurs when germs (usually bacteria or viruses) enter the bloodstream through a central line. A central line replaces an IV for some patients, making it easier to draw blood or receive certain medications.

The CDC reports that CLABSIs result in thousands of deaths each year and billions of dollars in added healthcare costs in the United States. The good news is that CLABSIs are preventable and the care team at TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center follows evidence-based practices to prevent them.
